foreign policy, talk about how it is playing in ohio. guest: first sheet mentioned the issue of jobs and the economy -- she mentioned the issue of jobs and the economy. mitt romney has made a strong case about laying out why we don't have a better economy. why he would lead the country in a direction toward creating more jobs. i think that has been the strength toward his campaign. when you get into the military, that has been an issue. it was a much bigger issue in 20008. getting into the benghazi issue talking about the attack in libya has not played much in the campaign. it has been more of an issue that the pundits have battled around but you will not hear that on the campaign trail from voters and elsewhere. host: tennessee on the independent line. go ahead. caller: hi. for then watching this last couple days and i wonder -- he is really trying to help the middle class. i have a business in tennessee. i think he is a good president. mitt romney already has everything. he does not know what it feels to be black or white in the middle

there are differences in how we conduct foreign policy. there are differences in how we handle the military and how we handle service personnel, as well as acquiring materials they needs -- they need. of this case republicans have the better of it. when president obama talks about the navy at the lowest level in nearly 100 years, it is not right to lock him for that. that is a serious discussion about our ability to project power around the world and do what america needs to do to protect its interest. with regard to military voted, i could not agree with you more. this has been a problem for years, and it is about time we got it fixed. our men and women are serving in harm's way all over the globe. every two-four years we have the issue of getting balance to them in getting back in time to be counted. i think the very least we can do to make sure those men and women are cared for in their boat is cherished. we need to do a better job of that. host: cnn reporting there are 100 sarah gets that will hit the truck for mitt romney over the nex

this is an effort to undermine the president's advantage on foreign-policy. but i'm not sure there's much there. i'm not fully versed in everything about benghazi and the attack surrounding it, but it does seem like there's a lot of coverage out there from some of the largest news organizations in america. host: sandy is the october surprise. we'll see how this shakes out. ben in tennessee, independent caller. caller: please don't cut me off. i would like to say the bailouts of gm and chrysler benefited nascar, because they took all the money that the taxpayers gave them and put it back into nascar, because there were still sponsoring it and sponsoring events. also, this president does not carry ou -- does not care about the middle class. we have only had one rates on our social security. my mother got a $30 raise. it's going on four years now. he gets back in, we will not get another one. the only reason he gave this one was because of the election. host: reid wilson? guest: we actually put up an interesting post last week on the hot line by two republicans

he had a fair chance to win in 2008 and then he could decide to implement policies as far as foreign policy, health care, jobs. host: we will get a response from barbara comstock, who is one of the chairs of the romney for virginia campaign. guest: i would just quote joe biden -- the middle class has been buried over the past four years. they have been buried because this president's economic policies failed. the president said when he came in his trillion dollars stimulus would get unemployment well under where it is now. he said that he was going to cut the debt that was $10 trillion in half, down to $5 trillion. now it is $16 children. he failed by a factor of three times what he said he was going to do. his health care bill, a huge government monstrosity, not something done at the state level, would end up costing us $2,500 more in premiums when he said it was going to be less -- that it would be $2,500 less. the president himself said if he did not get this done, if he did not turn this economy around in three years it would be a one- term proposition. i agree with him, and that
